We're hiring in Copenhagen

Product Engineer. Help us build the future small-business phone.

We are looking for a product engineer to help us bring Phone.inc to life across our apps and platform.

Phone.inc is the future small-business phone.

15 years ago, I co-founded Firmafon, which today is the biggest SMB telco in Denmark under its new brand Relatel. Since then, technology has changed, markets have opened, and I have learned a ton. Now I am on a mission to reinvent what a small business phone product looks like in the age of global infrastructure and AI.

We are building a great team in Copenhagen, backed by initial investment from top European venture capital firms. We are seeking engineers and designers who are passionate about small businesses and driven to solve our customers' problems.

Specifically, we are looking for engineers who are enthusiastic about using new technologies like AI to solve challenges, but who also recognise the value of established, proven tools when cutting-edge solutions are not the best fit.

We will be a small team, and it's important that you are interested in a broad role, not one focused solely on one area; we need to cover a lot of ground. When needed, you are also ready to jump into our other systems, such as our backend or AI processing pipeline. You are motivated by solving problems and creating a product with great taste and value.

Joining Phone.inc now is stepping into a creative workshop with an almost blank canvas, but with me as a very opinionated conductor. You will have a core role and a significant impact in defining, building, and bringing our product to market in an all-team, collaborative workplace.

How we work.

  1. We are international from day one, both in our own culture and the markets we serve.
  2. I have a clear picture of our V1 product and how to shave it down to something we can ship quickly. From there, it's a team effort to learn what the market needs.
  3. I believe everybody, from sales to engineers, should have strong empathy and an understanding of our customers and their needs. We bring this deep customer love into our creative product work.
  4. We will always have a small leadership team (right now, it's only me) and make decisions quickly.
  5. We all believe in empowerment and are not limited in what we do by our job descriptions.
  6. We like shipping fast, but we value simplicity and quality more. It's all a balancing act.
  7. We are together in the office 2-3 days a week. We balance high bandwidth and deep work.

How we build with AI.

Agentic engineering is how we work, not a side experiment. We live in Cursor and Claude Code every day, and we reach for AI first — before we solve a problem any other way.

We think about this from first principles. AI is changing what a small team can build, how fast we can learn, and how good the product can get. That excites us, and we want it to excite you too.

  • You default to solving problems with agents, and you know when a plain script or a proven tool is the better call.
  • You are already fluent with tools like Cursor and Claude Code, and you push them to do more.
  • You use AI to move faster without lowering the bar on taste, simplicity, or quality.
  • You are curious about where this is heading and want to help shape how a company is built in the age of AI.

What we expect.

  • You love our target audience of small business owners, and you are motivated by solving their problems. The code you write is merely a tool to do so.
  • You love working up and down the stack and find real-time technology (WebRTC, realtime AI, CallKit/ConnectionService etc.) interesting.
  • As a product engineer you care about the look and feel; the total experience is important to you.
  • You want to take active part in building a company in the age of AI.
  • We expect you to thrive in the massive void of an early-stage startup.
  • You challenge us, and want to be challenged, too.

What you can expect.

  • Extremely high ambitions, motivation and tempo.
  • A fun and creative work environment.
  • A senior team with a lot of experience.
  • To be building a product that customers love.
  • A ton of freedom, but also high expectations on impact.
  • Work should not kill you, but fit into your life as a whole person. Everybody on our 3-person team has small kids.
  • An office you enjoy working from and where there is a great community (Matrikel1).
  • We all act as equals while recognising that I am the final decision-maker given my experience in the space and role.

How we communicate.

  • We value the high bandwidth we get when we are in a room together; it both motivates us and sparks our creativity. We also value time for deeper work and reflection, which is why we require working in the same office 2-3 days a week.
  • While we enjoy the high bandwidth of being together, we also value writing. Writing product pitches and other forms of long-form written communication is a core part of how we communicate.
  • We are direct in our communication, but always communicate with positive intent.
  • We use Slack, but only for social stuff and quick pings. Slack is not where collaboration happens.
